Organized jointly by the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Muslim World League, the International Conference of religious leaders was launched today in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur under the auspices and presence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato ‘Sri Anwar bin Ibrahim, and the Secretary General of the Association, chairman of the Muslim Scholars’ Association, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, in addition to the presence of about دينية religious and intellectual figures from ٥٧ a country.
The conference comes within the framework of the efforts of Malaysia and the Muslim World League to establish a global religious platform that promotes ways of civilizational cooperation based on inclusive partnerships, and sets a road map to consolidate harmony among the followers of religions who make up the majority of the world’s peoples, and solve the problems of coexistence with a vision of solidarity, imbued with a spirit of responsibility.
In a gesture that embodies the spirit and objectives of the conference, the conference participants began their conference with a stand of solidarity with the martyrs of Gaza, followed by a welcoming speech by His Excellency the minister in the presidency of the Malaysian Council of ministers, Senator Dato Haj Mohammed Naeem bin Haj Mukhtar, in which he pointed out that this attendance shows that the state of Malaysia and its people always support all initiatives aimed at achieving unity and harmony among all parties of the peoples of the world and its Spectra.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the secretary general of the Muslim world league who cooperated with the Malaysian government to organize this conference, pointing out that the organization of such a conference reflects the close relationship between the Muslim world league and the Malaysian government, stressing that his country will work with all diligence and interest to continue this cooperation in the future.
On behalf of the Malaysian government and ASEAN, the minister welcomed the guests of the conference who came from more than 57 countries besides Malaysia, stressing that the participation of religious leaders, politicians and academics from around the world in this conference proves that religious diversity does not prevent from sitting together to achieve unity and harmony in society.
After that, the secretary general of the Association, the chairman of the Muslim Scholars ‘ Association, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, delivered the keynote speech of the conference, stressing that the conference selected a distinguished group of religious leaders who are active in promoting harmony among the followers of religions and confronting the ideas of extremism, especially the dangers of cultural and civilization clash.
Al-Issa stressed that our diverse world needs religious leaders who have a tangible impact, contributing through their sincere and effective efforts to enhance its peace and harmony of its societies, warning that this time is a sensitive time burdened with troubles and risks and does not tolerate any moment of neglect or negligence.
As the secretary general of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Al-Issa reviewed the position of Islam in this regard, stressing at the same time that Islam is represented only by those who work with its teachings, and no one is infallible except the prophet of Islam, and that the mistakes made by some of those affiliated with Islam represent them alone and do not represent Islam.
Reviewed by Dr. He stressed that the association has taken important steps related to promoting harmony among followers of religions by building bridges between civilizations to enhance their understanding and cooperation to achieve their common benefit, pointing out that most living civilizations have religious roots, stressing that such understanding and cooperation does not affect religious identity, each has its own religion, culture and civilization, stressing in the same context the danger of contempt for followers of religions and the destruction of their sanctities.
He warned Dr.He added, ” in the bloody Gaza war, we have the greatest witness to the failure of the international community to stop the bleeding of genocide there,” stressing, in this regard, the appreciation of the great and continuous efforts made by the Arab and Islamic countries led by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its sincere and strong voice through several summits, several meetings as well as the influential international presence.
In conclusion, he expressed his sincere thanks to the Malaysian Prime Minister for his patronage, attendance and support for the success of this important international conference.
For his part, the prime minister of Malaysia, Dato ‘ Sri Anwar bin Ibrahim, delivered a speech in which he stressed that the conference represents an important opportunity for religious leaders to take charge of matters and provide advice, both on the social and religious side, stressing that it is a great responsibility and real honesty.
The Malaysian prime minister warned against the cultural claims about the clash of civilizations and Politics, which serve to divide humanity, indicating that people are tired of the absence of justice, adding, “Let the religious leaders take their rightful place, and be more influential and effective.
“With the unfortunate events in Gaza, here is an opportunity for religious leaders to take matters into their own hands and provide advice, and it is a great responsibility, and real honesty,” he said, adding, “If we do not do something effective and effective for our principles and to fulfill humanitarian laws with coexistence and compassion, where is the religion in US?” If we do not seek justice and charity, what is the value of our faith in our religions”.
In response to the proposal of His Excellency the secretary-general of ASEAN regarding the adoption of this conference as an annual summit under the title “Kuala Lumpur Summit of religious leaders”, the Malaysian prime minister stressed his welcome and appreciation for the idea, and the adoption of the annual summit hosted by Kuala Lumpur, stressing in this regard that it is important for his country to support the correct understanding of Islam, to support all messages of peace, and to support the concept of “mercy for the worlds” brought by Islam.
The conference continued its deliberations with interventions from participating religious and intellectual leaders from around the year, within the framework of the conference’s themes and issues, and then the conference issued a final statement in which they confirmed that every human being is a distinct creature in this universe, and it is covered by the honor that does not accept negative discrimination and does not know favoritism, regardless of his religion, gender, color or race.
They stressed the importance of the role of followers of religions in contributing to the strengthening of the peace of our world and the harmony of its societies, and that the task of religious leaders is to recall the models of civilization that build bridges of cooperation and peace between all for the benefit of all.
They explained that an effective and fruitful dialogue is the optimal behavior for resolving conflicts, ending conflicts, bridging relations between followers of civilizations.
They stressed that religious and cultural diversity and the resulting knowledge diversity require the establishment of an effective civilizational partnership; and constructive communication, within a common social contract, investing the diversity of visions in the service of humanity and achieving comprehensive national development.
They pointed out that conscious citizenship is based on respect for the laws of the national state and its identity, not threatening or inciting it, rejecting the negatives of dividing societies on religious or ethnic grounds, and countering the stirring up of hatred and racism dredge.
The conference stressed that the religious alliance and cultural exchange to achieve common civilization goals is the most complete model for ridding our world of the threats of its clash and related conflicts.
The conferences also issued a number of recommendations included in the final statement, including calling on the institutions of the world’s major religions to cooperate and coordinate among themselves in the service of humanitarian participants, and respect religious and cultural particularities.
The conference also recommended encouraging moderate moderate discourse that highlights the eminence of religion to strengthen the bonds of solidarity and brotherhood between human societies, and renounce extremist discourse that incites hatred, and uses religion in fabricating crises and fueling conflict.
They urged to intensify meetings between religious scholars and leaders to study thorny issues and theses on community coexistence, praising in this regard the initiative of the Muslim World League in issuing the Makkah document, and the principles and foundations it contained to consolidate acquaintance, cooperation and bridging relations for the benefit of all, and establishing the values of coexistence and tolerance among followers of religions and cultures, and considering it among the forefront of references to promote peace and global harmony because of its common humanitarian principles.
In their recommendations, the conferees called for the formation of a high Committee of religious leaders, experts and intellectuals, chaired by the Malaysian Council of ministers and the general secretariat of the Muslim World League, to form specialized task forces to achieve their goals, including pushing for the cessation of wars and conflicts, by sending delegations representing the Supreme Committee and addressing governments and international organizations around the world, foremost of which is immediate and urgent intervention to stop the war in Gaza, abide by the dictates of international covenants and covenants and rights, and work to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and ensure the attainment of their legitimate rights.
They also recommended that this committee establish a media platform affiliated to the Supreme Committee of the conference, to activate the role of the media in promoting awareness of the assimilation of the Universal year in the diversity among peoples and civilizations, in addition to opening innovative channels of communication between different components around the world, encouraging fraternization initiatives around the participants and dismantling racist and exclusionary discourses.
