Al-Issa states that “Islam is against violence and can never admit any method of violence.” He should admit the truth. The Quran and Hadith show that Al-Issa isn’t telling it like it is. According to the Hadith Abu Dawud Book 38 no 4348, Islam supports extreme violence for blasphemy:
Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: A blind man had a slave-mother who used to abuse the Prophet (peace be upon him) and disparage him. He forbade her but she did not stop. He rebuked her but she did not give up her habit. One night she began to slander the Prophet (peace be upon him) and abuse him. So he took a dagger, placed it on her belly, pressed it, and killed her. A child who came between her legs was smeared with the blood that was there. When the morning came, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was informed about it. He assembled the people and said: I adjure by Allah the man who has done this action and I adjure him by my right to him that he should stand up. Jumping over the necks of the people and trembling the man stood up. He sat before the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: Apostle of Allah! I am her master; she used to abuse you and disparage you. I forbade her, but she did not stop, and I rebuked her, but she did not abandon her habit. I have two sons like pearls from her, and she was my companion. Last night she began to abuse and disparage you. So I took a dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it till I killed her. Thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Oh be witness, no retaliation is payable for her blood.
Yes, not all Muslims choose to comply with violent Islamic texts, whih are numerous.
With the world’s eyes on the sensational story of Salman Rushdie, it behooves Islamic apologists to present Islam as a religion of peace. Many will succeed in doing so, despite the attack on Rushdie and the millions of others who have been murdered (in line with Quran 8:12 and other passages) or for committing alleged blasphemy (in accordance with numerous Islamic texts).
In 2019, Al-Issa demanded that the media present what he called a “true image of Islam.” He said he was concerned about “dangerous ideas that have nothing to do with Islam and Muslims.” The inconvenient truth is that Islam is not a religion of peace. There is a clear reason why people are afraid to insult Islam: the threat of violence that can come at any time. When school teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded in the street in France, support (overt and tacit) for his beheading came from far and wide across the Islamic world.
All jihadists justify their actions with texts from the Quran and Hadith. To claim that jihadis’ actions have nothing to do with Islam is misleading at best.
“Muslim World League chief says Rushdie attack ‘unacceptable’ to Islam,” by Tala Michel Issa, Al Arabiya, August 22, 2022:
Secretary-General of the Muslim World League Muhammad bin Abdul Karim al-Issa said that the attack on acclaimed author Salman Rushdie in New York was “a crime that Islam does not accept” in an interview with Saudi news outlet Arab News.
“Islam is against violence and can never admit any method of violence. Religious and intellectual issues, including phrases that may read in full or partly as offensive, cannot never be dealt with in these violent ways,” al-Issa was quoted as saying on the sidelines of a conference on inter-religious dialogue in Rimini, Italy.
Rushdie, 75, was set to deliver a lecture on artistic freedom at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York on August 12 when he was attacked and stabbed by a man who has been identified as Hadi Matar, a US-raised 24-year-old with Lebanese roots.
Rushdie has lived with a bounty on his head since his 1988 novel ‘The Satnic Verses,’ which prompted Iran’s then-leader Ali Khamenei to urge Muslims to kill him.
Al-Issa, who is also the president of the International Islamic Halal Organization and Saudi Arabia’s former Minister of Justice said that Islam is “opposed to violence.”…
